WTPS: Teddy, Ziege and Sunday rumours

Posted on 28 October 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Teddy Sheringham and Christian Ziege are featured in two lengthy pieces in the Sunday newspapers.

Teddy talks to Paul McCarthy in the Sunday People about his career and his dream that, one day, his son Charlie comes on for him as substitute in a game.

Our skipper says: "I said to him (Charlie) the other day my dream is for him to come on as sub for me when he's 16 and I can say to the world, 'See you's the next Sheringham.'"

Christian talks to Matt Driscoll in the News Of The World. Under the headline 'Why Robbie has to go', our German star talks about his nightmare at Anfield and the belief Glenn Hoddle has in him at the Lane. "He believes that I can become one of the best left-sided players in the world," he says. "So I will try everything to return that faith."

As far as rumours go, the People link us with a move for German international Steffan Effenberg. The Bayern Munich midfielder was heavily linked with us in the summer and he has stated that he would like to play in the Premiership.

In the Mail on Sunday, Joe Melling's 'Word on Football' hints that Leeds United are interested in Ledley King.

The Mirror's Chat Zone has three clubs - Norwich City, Coventry and Wolves - lining up a move for midfielder Tim Sherwood.

The NOTW reports that Steve Carr will not return from his knee injury in December although his knee brace could come off this week.
