WTPS: Sergei off?

Posted on 8 February 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The Sun run a story on Friday suggesting that Sergei Rebrov will leave at the end of the season.

Pat Sheehan quotes the Ukrainian in the piece, on the back page, insisting: "I will stay until the end of the season. Afterwards I will definitely leave Tottenham."

Meanwhile, Teddy Sheringham tells the Daily Mail that he is relishing the thought of taking part in this summer's World Cup in Japan - especially after believing his international career was over after being left out of Euro 2000 by Kevin Keegan.

He told Paul Newman: "I was 33 then and I thought that was probably it. But I never felt the need to retire from international football. If you still love playing for your country, why retire? I can understand Alan's (Shearer) reasons, but it wasn't an option for me. I had some good people around me who convinced me that things could change - and I'm glad I listened to them."
