Les Ferdinand was almost struck by the glass beer bottle as he celebrated his equaliser in the Worthington Cup against Chelsea.
"If that bottle had hit me in the wrong place, it could easily have killed me. I don't want to sound alarmist but that is the cold reality of what could have happened.
"Unfortunately over the last month or so there has been a big increase in this kind of missile throwing. It has got to stop before a professional player is seriously injured."
