WTPS: Allback a target?

Posted on 3 March 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Joe Melling's column in the Mail on Sunday links us with Swedish international striker Marcus Allback.

Allback, 28, will partner Henrik Larsson in the World Cup. He is currently at Dutch outfit Heerenveen and valued at about £4m.

The Sunday Mirror has three stories on Spurs. The first suggests that England coach Sven Goran Eriksson has assured Darren Anderton that he is in his World Cup plans.

The second speculates that Les Ferdinand, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Tim Sherwood and Steffen Freund will join Sergei Rebrov on the way out of the Lane in a summer shake-up. Glenn Hoddle is quoted in the piece, saying: "I will be looking to do something in the transfer market this summer." So is Steffen, who says: "I hope I can be part of the long-term plan."

The final piece is in the Mirror's Chat Zone column which claims West Brom have targeted Oyvind Leonhardsen for a loan deal for the the rest of the season.

As far as Sunday's reports on the win against Sunderland go, most writers agree that we should have wrapped it up by half-time but, by the same token, Sunderland were perhaps unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty in the second half.
