The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Haringey Council are coming together to give the Borough its very own World Cup-style football tournament to coincide with the one we will all be watching in South Africa this summer!
Haringey's parks will be hosting preliminary rounds for teams that enter over weekends in June, commencing on Saturday June 12 - the day Fabio Capello's England kick off their World Cup campaign against the USA in Rustenburg.
And on Sunday July 11, the day of the actual FIFA World Cup Final, the best teams Haringey has to offer will come together at Albert Road Recreation Ground to battle it out for prize money and the chance of lifting the Oliver Tambo Trophy in the first ever Haringey Community Football World Cup!
The Haringey Community Football World Cup will provide the Borough's residents and young people with an incredible, inspiring and valuable opportunity to access sporting opportunities.
The competition will follow a 6-a-side format and will be run in line with the Borough's Area Assembly structure. A key Charter Standard football club in each Area Assembly will join with the Council and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to promote and organise the preliminary rounds, which will include junior and adult categories.
The semi finals and finals will be held at the July 11 event at Albert Road Recreation Ground. The winners of each category will receive £200 in prize money, with runners-up receiving £100.
And it's not too late for you to enter your team!
If you are interested in entering a team, please contact the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation on 020 8365 5134 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, and you will be sent an application form to complete.
The deadline for entries is 5pm on Wednesday June 2.
Could this be your chance of World Cup glory??
