Spurs supporters from across the globe have descended on Brazil for the showpiece event and are keeping us updated on their experiences.
Here’s the latest round of updates...
Faizal Ahmed (from Kerala, India)
This is my second World Cup, having also been to South Africa four years ago. I am rooting for Belgium, like many Spurs fans, because of the White Hart Lane contingent in the team and I was fortune to be able to watch their game against Russia in the group stage last week.
On my first day in Rio I wore my white Spurs shirt and met some American and English Spurs fans while wandering around in the Copacabana fanfest.
The next day was match day. We arrived early and took photos with some Belgian fans with the India Spurs flag inside the stadium. I also spotted several fans wearing Tottenham shirts.
Disappointingly none of our players started for Belgium, but I was pleased that ‘Super Jan’ made a substitute appearance!
Overall the trip to Brazil has been really good. Thankfully almost all matches in the World Cup have featured a current or previous Spurs player, which only added to the excitement for us.
I’m now hoping all Spurs players still involved in the tournament can continue to do well.
Rob Ahlers (Amsterdam Spurs)
It’s been another couple of exhilarating days! We’re currently in Buzios, where the town centre was packed with supporters on Saturday – all watching Brazil vs Chile on a giant screen.
There were quite a lot of Chileans, but obviously Brazilian fans were greater in number.
Brazil got through by the skin of their teeth in the end – but you would have thought they had won the World Cup judging by the atmosphere! The town was filled with song, dance and noisy cars after the game.
The Holland vs Mexico game was equally exciting – well, certainly for us! We had to wait an awfully long time for our happy ending and it was certainly a nervous wait!
We’re now heading back to Teresopolis for the next stage of our trip.
