Our versatile defender endured mixed fortunes in his nation’s tournament opener against Algeria earlier this week, recovering well from a first half penalty decision that went against him to help the Red Devils ensure they didn’t concede a second goal.
As he prepares for his country’s second match in Group H, kick-off 5pm, the 27-year-old says he’s aware of Russia’s strengths.
“They are always very good technically, physically as well,” he said.
“They have a European style and they always do well. They will have players from a very strong Russian league and they could make an impact in the group.”
Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli could also feature against Russia, with Belgium’s third group match against South Korea still to come on Thursday.
