Goalkeeper Hugo is captain of France and has proudly led Les Blues to a fascinating quarter-final clash against Germany in Rio on Friday (5pm UK).
Hugo has kept three clean sheets in four matches as France topped Group E from Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras and then beat Nigeria 2-0 in the Round of 16 on Monday.
“The intensity and level of every game is unbelievable,” said Hugo, before flying with the squad from Sao Paulo to Rio.
“There is no difference between all the nations, every game is tight and to make the difference you have to be very strong in every part of the game - tactically, technically and mentally.
“It’s a strong feeling when you are at the World Cup, difficult to compare with anything else.
“When you go far in this tournament, you can sense all the people from your country behind you, it’s very special.
“The feeling is that every game could be the last one and that’s why you have to give everything and leave the pitch with no regrets.
“I just hope by most important game is the next one, the next one and then the next one!
“As players, we are all very proud to represent our nation at this tournament.”
