Clive Allen revealed that there were 'a few strong words' at half-time before our reserves completely turned around their league opener against West Brom.

They trailed 2-0 at half-time against the Baggies at Leyton Orient on Monday night before a second half recovery and goals from Danny Hutchins, David Hutton and Andy Barcham completed a 3-2 victory.

Determined to start well this season, Clive saw his side go 1-0 down inside two minutes before conceding again in first half injury time.

"The players came into the dressing room at half-time with their tails between their legs and there were a few strong words," reflected Development Coach Clive.

"I basically said they had 10 minutes to sort themselves out and that was asking for a response.

"They then showed what they are capable of in the second half.

"That's what you want in that situation - a response. It's not easy, they could have felt that the game was gone, felt that they already had too much to do but that wasn't the case and as soon as we scored the first goal early in the second half there was an intent to go and win the game.

"We played some excellent football in the second half, got into areas where we would create opportunities and on the balance of play overall, we deserved it.

"We will talk again about the game, go through the reasons why we conceded the goals, but I felt we looked a real threat and that is encouraging."
