Harry Redknapp has been boosted by the return of Jonathan Woodgate to full training this week.
The defender who played in 34 of 38 league matches last term featured in a practice match on Tuesday after recovering from a groin problem sustained in the early part of pre-season.
With ‘Woody' returning, Michael Dawson fit again and Ledley King recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up at Chelsea, Harry will soon have a full complement of central defenders.
Harry reported: "Jonathan training again is great news for us. It looks like Ledley will be okay as well, so that gives us options and that's what we need.
"Suddenly we've three more fantastic centre-halves available. That makes us stronger."
Sebastien Bassong has been partnered by Tom Huddlestone in our last matches against Burnley and Bolton.
