Jonathan Woodgate believes we have to put in maximum effort in order to get back to winning ways against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. The lads are desperate to put Sunday’s 4-1 defeat against Newcastle United behind them, and we have the perfect opportunity to do so at Ewood Park.

But ‘Woody’ knows we cannot go into the game with anything other than a winning mentality if we want to beat a team sitting seventh in the Barclays Premier League and chasing a place in Europe.

He said: “Every game is a big test of character, especially for a Club of this stature, and we need to go to Blackburn and win.

“They’re going for Europe so they will be giving it their all, so we need to be professional and work as hard as we can to beat them.

“The Newcastle game showed us that we need to improve and as players we all know when we haven’t done well. I’m sure we will discuss it over the week.”
