Gareth Bale struck the winner in the 67th minute at The Hawthorns to stretch our run to one defeat in 13 and move us to within a point of third-placed Chelsea in the Premier League.
“We have to continue to be strong because Arsenal are there and Everton as well,” said Hugo. “It was a good opportunity to close in on Chelsea and we took it, so it’s an important win for us.”
Hugo certainly played his part with a couple of fine saves in the first half and then coming off his line to gather a free-kick in the last seconds of added time, the home team’s final chance to equalise.
"It is difficult to play here, West Brom play good football and have two strikers with good movement but we were strong and of course the red card changed the game, but we deserved to win,” he added.
“Gareth was decisive and scored a fantastic goal but I thought the whole team did well. It was about team work.”
