My name is Darren Snowden and I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada - the home of Owen Hargreaves (we have many other brilliant players over here, so alert the scouts).
The picture shows me about to leave home on August 30th, 2001 for my first day at A.E. Cross Junior High School here in Calgary. What else would I want
to wear but my Spurs uniform!
I have only been to White Hart Lane once, April 2001 when Spurs played Aston Villa. Shame the score ended 0-0, but it was an experience I won't forget. I
was amazed by the atmosphere created by the crowd and was pleased that I saw David Ginola. He was my favourite player, but now it is Sergei Rebrov. I
have his name on the back of my jersey.
I play soccer too and I am a goal scoring mid-fielder. My team, Glamorgan Grizzlies, won the gold medal this year for indoor soccer (under 12's).
My Dad, Geoff, has been a Spurs supporter since 1958 when he was only 12 years old, the same age as I am today. He was born in Chingford, only a few
miles from WHL. He emigrated to Canada in 1981 and before this he visited WHL as often as he could. Some of the greatest games that he saw and has
told me about include:
27/9/58 Home Spurs 2 Wolves 1 (the first Spurs game that he saw)
05/4/62 Home Spurs 2 Benfica 1 (continuous seige of the Benfica penalty area)
12/4/63 Away Spurs 2 Liverpool 5 (Spurs lead 2-0 at half-time)
15/4/63 Home Spurs 7 Liverpool 2 (the right result 3 days later)
13/1/72 Away Spurs 6 Margate 0 (the only time my Dad cheered for the opposition, he lived in Margate at that time)
I hope to go to another match sometime in 2002, if we are lucky enough to visit England again. Until then, I continue to watch as many games as I can
on our local TV station.
I think the web-site is great and I visit it almost every day. Glory, Glory Spurs, and I hope Glenn Hoddle gives us a season to remember.
From, Darren Snowden
(loyal Spurs supporter since November 5th, 1989, my birthday).
