White Hart World - Cameron Tilbury

Posted on 4 May 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Cameron Tilbury has yet to visit the Lane, but associated the words 'class' and 'Spurs' at an early age.

Name: Cameron Tilbury

Age: 39

Lives: In Whitby, Ontario, Canada. That's about 30 kilometres east of Toronto

Why do you support Spurs?

I was raised on football and taught to appreciate a "class" game. Based on that, the only team I could support would be Tottenham. Some of the lessons of my father must have gone horribly wrong in the case of my younger brother...he supports the pretenders down the road. Needless to say...we don't talk to each other.

Have you been to White Hart Lane - if so what's your favourite memory of the visit?

Unfortunately, I've never been to the Lane. I'm hoping that will change soon, though. I do visit vicariously through other supporters who have been!

How do you keep in touch with Spurs news?

I'm on several Spurs lists; I get regular updates on the team through football websites and via my mobile phone. I also check the Spurs website and read Spurs monthly.

Who is your favourite current player?

I'd love to say Rebrov, but I think he needs more time to adapt to the English game. Carr and Sol are two current favourites. It goes without saying that I hope Sol decides to stay!

What about a former favourite?

Hoddle, no question

Our newcomers Sergei, Neil and Ben

As I mentioned, Sergei needs some time to adapt, but I think he's a proven winner. We need to get him more service though. Neil is a solid keeper with a good command of the box. I think he can only improve. Ben? Well...he hasn't impressed so far. He has the potential to be a great player. Have we seen it yet? I don't think so.

Who should we try to sign next?

Someone with Ginola's flair that can get Rebrov the service he needs. No one with that quality comes to mind

Our targets for the season?

If we can keep the form we've been playing at home---and take that kind of performance on the road, then there's no question that a Top 6 position is attainable. That should be our target...and then Europe look out!

The new away kit

Brilliant. One of our best ever.

The Spurs website

Much improved. I would like to see an option for updates on scores/news that would be available for mobile phones. The matches aren't always available here so it would be nice to get SMS updates.
