HARRY REDKNAPP and Kevin Bond's long footballing relationship started all the way back in 1988 when Harry signed Kevin at Bournemouth.
So with a trip to Dean Court on the horizon, Xtra thought it about time to talk to them - about each other.
Harry, of course, had a story about Kevin, now his assistant manager but then a central defender. "I only ever saw him flustered once," he said.
"We went to Stockport and they had a six foot seven centre forward called Kevin Francis. He was the biggest player I've ever seen.
"He was causing us all sorts of trouble, we were getting beaten 4-0 and the floodlights went out!
"Kevin was hoping the floodlights wouldn't be coming in again but unfortunately, someone managed to fix them! We ended up losing 5-0!
"But he was a very good player, Kevin, a great reader of the game, good passer, understood the game and as I said, he never looked flustered."
Over to Kevin. What was Harry like as a manager back then? "Harry was exactly the same then as he is today," said Kevin. "He's not really changed.
"His man-management was excellent, he knows the game inside-out and was great then to play for. I'm sure that's the case now, the players enjoy working with him. He did a fantastic job at Bournemouth."
BACK TO pre-season training and Friday saw the lads concentrate on football as they prepared for that first pre-season friendly at Bournemouth on Saturday.
First up it was back to the medicine balls and hurdles for a session of stretching, movement activation and injury prevention exercises before the squad was split into three groups for small-sided matches, the emphasis on short, sharp possession work ahead of Saturday's match.
