Filming has taken place at the Club's Spurs Lodge training ground as part of a groundbreaking new project to be launched by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation this year.
‘What's Cooking? Kick & Cook' is a Haringey-based programme funded by the Food Standards Agency, working with selected young people aged 11 to 14 from five of the borough's secondary schools.
The project is helping young people to choose, cook and eat safe healthy food. We are doing this by giving them the chance to use the kitchen facilities at White Hart Lane to practise preparing healthy food, working closely with professional chefs.
Students will kick off the course with a session about a balanced diet and how to make healthier choices. To get them inspired about food, we've produced a DVD to give them an insight into how professional footballers stay fit and healthy by eating the right foods.
Club captain Ledley King, Alan Hutton, Darren Bent, First Team coach Marcos Alvarez and the Club canteen staff all contributed to the production of the DVD at the Lodge.
The players spoke about the healthy meals they choose to eat in order to stay in shape, Marcos tells us what tips he gives the players on staying fit, while the cameras went behind the scenes to find out how food is prepared at The Lodge.
After watching the DVD, the students will get the chance to cook the healthy meals suggested by the players themselves.
‘What's Cooking: Kick & Cook' is due to begin in November, so watch this space for updates on how this innovative project progresses.
