DAILY STAR
I won't walk out on Spurs
Most of the tabloids pick up on quotes attributed to Sergei in Russian newspaper, Sport Express.

"I'm not seriously putting down roots in London. My present team, which I hope to see qualify for the Champions League in the new season, is not top of my dreams," Sergei is quoted as saying.

His agent Sandor Varga moved to distance Sergei from the reports, Saying: "Sergei is happy and absolutely enjoying his life in London. His family is settled in a nice house in Chigwell. The only things he wants to change are the results.

"He would like to fulfil his five-year contract and help Spurs back to the top. They have spent a lot of money to get him and he wants to give them something back. That's his vision."

Get off my back

Sol Campbell hopes that fans fury over his switch to Arsenal calms down. He said: "Maybe it was a natural kind of response but hopefully it will die down. Both parties need to move on, football goes on. I spent a lot of years at Spurs, but now I am at Arsenal. Change comes to everyone."

Walker's new fight

DAILY EXPRESS
My Sol shocker

All the tabs report on Ian Walker's departure for Leicester on Monday either in short report or snippet form, most taking the line that he will again have to fight for his place in the team.

Tim Flowers and Simon Royce stand in the way of Walks' first team ambitions and he stated: "There are no guarantees of automatic selection and I understand that. The best man will be picked."

He also offered a view on Sol leaving, and expressed surprise at his eventual destination. "I would never have done that," he is quoted as saying. "It surprised me Sol went to Arsenal, just as it did a lot of people. I haven't spoken to himabout it, but I will in the next few weeks. It is what he wanted to do and he's made a brave move."

On the subject of his lack of first team chances at the Lane, Ian added: "I just couldn't stand the thought of another season playing second-fiddle. It was becoming harder and harder to go in and do my work knowing I had no chance of a game. Glenn Hoddle left me in no doubt a move would be my best choice."
