The arrival of Japanese World Cup star Kazuyuki Toda - on a year's loan, subject to passing a medical this weekend - makes all the papers with the Sun reporting that Sunderland are upset with the player's agents because they thought they would sign him. Sergei Rebrov's proposed to Fenerbache also makes most papers and the Express says we're still interested in Michael Ricketts.

Most papers go with Fenerbache officials complaining about the late collapse of a deal to take Sergei Rebrov to Turkey.

Thursday January 23

Most tabloids run with the news that Jamie Redknapp hopes to return from his broken toe in three weeks. The Star loosely links us with Robbie Fowler who they say wants a London move.

Tuesday January 21

The Sun goes on the back page with Michael Ricketts' transfer request being granted by Bolton - naturally linking him with a move to Spurs.

Ricketts said: "I've come to the conclusion that the interests of all parties are best served by me continuing my career away from Bolton.

"The interest shown in me by Tottenham and other Premiership clubs has been flattering."

Elsewhere, Les Ferdinand's pending move to West Ham makes most newspapers, Tim Sherwood is linked with West Brom and Sergei Rebrov's Fulham/Fenerbache situation rumbles on.
