‘Keano’ arrived from Leeds United in August 2002 while our current First Team Coach was still a player at The Lane.
And although Robbie had played for a number of teams before joining us, Gus believes Spurs was always going to be the right club for him.
He said: “Robbie’s been excellent for Spurs in many ways. I was here as a player when he first arrived, he was 22 years old, and this was already his fifth club!
“He has obviously found his home here and adapted very well to the Club and the supporters. They appreciate the way he plays and how much he cares about the team.
“That’s why he’s so good at his job and he’s so popular, and it’s a pleasure to have him here.
“He was great as a team-mate because he was always talking, always looking to help, and does it all with a smile on his face.”
And Gus also feels Robbie is just as easy to work with in his current capacity as a coach, adding: “He’s also a very good listener, he analyses things and then tries to put them into practice. He’s the kind of guy who wants to play all the time.
“We know he’s going to be here a long time and I hope he can finish his career here because you know you can count on him.”
