Team work the key - Christian

Christian Eriksen said it was all about the team performance as we toppled West Brom 3-0 at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday.

Christian and Harry Kane grabbed the headlines after scoring the goals but both also spoke about the contribution of Hugo Lloris on the way to securing maximum points.

Hugo made two outstanding saves in West Brom’s best spell after another fantastic free-kick from Christian and Harry’s clean strike put us 2-0 up inside 15 minutes.

Harry went on to hit his second - and his 20th of the season - from the penalty spot in the second half as we eventually ran out comfortable winners.

“Hugo is always there when we need him, he’s a world-class goalkeeper and he showed it again,” said Christian, now up to nine goals in the Premier League and 11 in total. “Everyone was needed today, we worked hard, created chances and scored the goals.

“I’m on a good run but I play for a team and if I get the chance, I score for the team. That’s what I’ve done.”

Having scored an incredible free-kick against Sheffield United on Wednesday night, Christian’s mind was ticking as he stood over his early set-piece against West Brom, this time left of centre, 22 yards from goal and curled into the top left corner.

“I was thinking which corner to go for, thinking if the goalkeeper might know where to go, but I chose the short corner and luckily it went in,” he said, typically modestly.

“Overall, I thought we played really well. We started sharp, created good chances and scored two early goals. After that, perhaps we relaxed a little too much but then we played much better in the second half.”
