Michael Dawson is determined for us to put on a performance our fans will be proud of against Real Madrid at the Lane tonight.

The captain admits it will be an ‘uphill battle’ to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals as we attempt to come back from a 4-0 quarter-final first leg deficit against the Spanish giants.

But ‘Daws’ knows our first campaign in Europe’s elite competition has been a memorable one and, if it ends tonight, is hoping it does so fittingly.

And he, like the rest of the team, are not ruling out producing what would be the greatest fightback in Champions League history.

He said: “Never say never. We want to put on a good performance and take it to them.

“Our fans have been fantastic all season and have been on a great journey as well, so we want to try and put on a performance for them and ourselves.

"The Champions League has been our reward from last year in the Premier League, we've had some great trips, some great results and hopefully there will be another one tonight.

“It’s an uphill battle, there’s no hiding that. But it’s White Hart Lane, the fans will be in full voice, and a couple of early goals could make them nervous, so we’ll see were that takes us.

“We are playing against a top class team but the boys will give it their all.”
