The central defender insisted the squad would look to bounce back straight away with three away games on the horizon in the space of six days in three different competitions at NK Maribor, Southampton and Norwich.
Naturally gutted after the 4-2 defeat, Steven also took a realistic view of Saturday’s derby clash at the Lane.
“Obviously it was a disappointing result from our point of view,” said Steven. “We’ve been on a good run and that put an end to it.
“I thought we came out really strongly in the first 10 minutes of the second half and played really well but I have to give credit to Chelsea, the better team won.
“The lads are down but we have three away games now with two cup games either side of Southampton, so we’ll look to bounce back quickly.”
