Michael Dawson insists the lads can't wait to get the season underway at Hearts on Thursday night.
We travel to Tynecastle, Edinburgh for the first leg of our Europa League play-off against the Scottish Premier League side.
It's our first match of 2011-12 after Saturday's scheduled Premier League opener against Everton was postponed due to safety reasons after the recent events in Tottenham.
The SPL season kicked-off on July 23rd and it was pointed out to Michael that Hearts had already played six competitive fixtures including victory over two legs against Hungarian side Paksi to reach the Europa League play-off.
"Hearts might be a few games ahead of us but we are ready," stated the skipper. "The players are excited about getting out there and getting our first game underway.
"We know it will be a tough, tough game in a hostile atmosphere but we'll be ready."
Michael echoed team-mate Gareth Bale's view that last season's experience in our Champions League play-off at Young Boys will stand us in good stead.
With the lucrative prize of a place in the group stages at stake, we trailed 3-0 after less than 30 minutes in Bern before thankfully recovering to 3-2 on the night and then storming through with a 4-0 win in the second leg.
"That first half-hour at Young Boys was a disaster and could have cost us dearly," reflected Michael.
"We've got to make sure we go out all guns blazing and make sure we are ready and focused - because they certainly will be."
