Jamie Redknapp has welcomed the return to action of midfield livewire Simon Davies.
The Welsh international made his comeback from a shin operation as a substitute against Norwich on Sunday before topping up his fitness with 65 minutes in the reserve encounter with Crystal Palace on Monday.
The skipper said the 24-year-old admitted his relief over finally playing and not feeling hampered by injury following his appearance against Norwich.
"I spoke to Simon after the game and he said how good it was to feel injury-free - I know how he feels. When you are playing with an injury, no matter how good you are, you can't play at the level you want to play at.
"He said he felt really good and it is such a great sign for us because he's got good energy, he can run, pass, shoot and score. He will give us another dimension in the team."
Jamie agreed that Simon featuring on the right offers the team a natural balance.
"He does, I've been playing out there and have tried to do my best even though it is not my favoured position. The more I played I found it easier, Michael Brown has played out there as well and found the same.
"It is Simon's position, he knows where to go so it is nice to have someone out there."
