Wear something WOW at The Lane!

Posted on 3 February 2009  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

SOS Children's Villages World Orphan Week will officially kick-off at White Hart Lane this Sunday (February 8) at the North London derby against Arsenal.

SOS Children, the world's largest orphan charity, is asking people of all ages to dress up or wear something out of the ordinary for one day to help support the campaign and raise awareness of the charity.

As part of our involvement, we would like to invite fans attending the derby game to celebrate with the Club by wearing something WOW.

Dressing WOW simply consists of wearing something out of the ordinary, so you could dress as your favourite superhero, rockstar or even as Chirpy!

The three most elaborately dressed supporters at the game will be selected by the Club's WOW crowd spotters and will be invited pitchside at half-time to be in with a chance of winning an exclusive prize.

World Orphan Week runs from the 9th - 15th February and the Club and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation will be working with SOS Children throughout the week to raise awareness of the campaign in the community.

Donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated on the day and your support can give orphaned and abandoned children a family... for life!

In 2007 the Club announced a four-year international charity partnership with SOS Children's Villages, and over the past year we have been working with the charity on a number of initiatives in support of their work in South Africa.

The focus of our work so far has been in South Africa, whereby we have been working closely with SOS Children to fund the construction of our Tottenham Hotspur House, as well as providing educational equipment and providing links to the Spurs Learning Zone.

The Tottenham Hotspur House, which is uniquely and completely funded by monies received from players' fines, aims to provide orphaned children in South Africa with a family that they can call their own.
