We go to win - Gomes

Heurelho Gomes is targeting another successful road trip when we travel across London to Fulham on Boxing Day.

Last weekend's hard-fought 2-0 win at Blackburn made it four away wins so far in the Barclays Premier League this term - matching last season's total.

Gomes was impressed by Fulham's 3-0 win against champions Manchester United last weekend but insists we go to Craven Cottage with nothing less than three points in our sights.

"You have to go to win the games," said the popular goalkeeper. "We always try to do that and when you try to win, you can win.

"We have a strong squad and so many quality players within this group. We are confident whoever we play at the moment."

Gomes wasn't surprised by last Saturday's super show from Roy Hodgson's men as goals from ex-Spurs Danny Murphy and Bobby Zamora plus one from Damien Duff made it six wins and a draw from nine games at the Cottage in the league this season.

"Results like this are happening in the Premier League this season," he added. "Fulham are playing very well and they are strong at home. They can win games at home.

"But we showed against Villa and Everton and again at Blackburn that we can perform in games away from home and that's so important. We have to keep going.

"The win at Blackburn was so important. We lost a game at home against Wolves but beat City and Blackburn. When you get just one point away from home in the Premier League it's an important point, so to get three points again is a great result."
