We can't wait - JD

Jermain Defoe says the lads can’t wait for ‘the big one’ against Arsenal on Sunday.

Jermain Defoe says the lads can’t wait for ‘the big one’ against Arsenal on Sunday.

The striker returned to action with a goal against Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night after illness ruled him out of last weekend’s win at Wigan.

That victory at the DW made it three on the trot in the Premier League and ‘JD’ feels if we can repeat the level of performance against Liverpool last time out in the league at the Lane on September 18, we’ll be hard to beat.

“Yes, this is the big one, a massive game and one we all want to play in,” said Jermain, who already has four goals to his name this season.

“I was disappointed to miss Wigan through illness and that’s why I was delighted to play and score against Shamrock. I worked hard and I’m ready for Sunday.

“I’m sure the fans can’t wait, the players can’t wait and we’re ready.

“We’re confident, especially the way we are playing. If we put in the same intensity, movement and pass the ball as we did against Liverpool, then I can’t see why we can’t win the game.”
