Proud captain of Club and country, Hugo returned from leading France to the final of Euro 2016 to a Spurs squad both determined and excited for the nine months ahead.
It all starts at Goodison Park and Hugo pinpoints the settled nature of our squad under Mauricio Pochettino as key to a good start.
“Our minds are ready,” said Hugo. “Now we need to be really focused on the start of the season.
"It’s not the time to lose points, we need to take points, especially as most of the ambitious teams have new managers, new styles and they will need to adapt.
"For us, it’s two years working all together, we know what the manager expects, we have a style of football and we work for that every day. That must be an advantage for us.
"We are ready in terms of fitness and tactics, technically we have a lot of good players so now it’s about spirit, hunger and we need to do better than last season, it’s as simple as that."
