Wilson Palacios looks set to be fit for Honduras' World Cup opener against Chile on Wednesday.

Our all-action midfielder was injured in a friendly defeat against Romania on June 5 but was able to take a full part in his team's final training session before they flew east from Johannesburg to the Mpumalanga province for the match at the Mbombela Stadium.

Team doctor Oscar Benitez told the press: "Wilson is 100 per cent. He is training at high intensity and we are very happy. He is ready."

Heurelho Gomes is likely to start on the bench when Brazil open their campaign against North Korea tonight.

The goalkeeper played in warm-up matches against Zimbabwe and Tanzania following an injury to Inter Milan's Julio Cesar, but Brazil's number one looks set to be fit.

Honduras against Chile and Spain against Switzerland complete the first round of group matches on Wednesday and then Giovani dos Santos will be back in action for Mexico in the big one against France on Thursday.

Gio is pictured training with Mexico below while we've a shot of Michael Dawson training with England on Wednesday at the top of the page - click the arrows to see all the pictures.
