Wilson Palacios got off to a disappointing start in the World Cup as Honduras opened their campaign against Chile on Wednesday.

The midfielder was booked after 33 minutes as Honduras lost 1-0 in Group H.

Chile were the better team and grabbed victory when Jean Beaujesour converted Mauricio Isla's cross in the 34th minute.

Honduras are next in action in the big one against Spain on Monday.

Meanwhile, as expected, Heurelho Gomes was on the bench as Brazil opened their campaign with a 2-1 win against North Korea.

Inter Milan's number one Julio Cesar recovered in time from a back injury to take his place in goal.
