Tom Huddlestone was a late substitute and Wayne Routledge - our winger on loan at Fulham - scored as England Under-21s drew with Italy at the new Wembley Stadium.

Starting on the right supporting lone striker Leroy Lita in a 4-3-3 system, Wayne scored England's second goal in what turned out to be a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first international at the new stadium.

Italy striker Gianpaolo Pazzini stole the show with a hat-trick including the opener after just 28 seconds - the fastest international goal at Wembley!

David Bentley made it 1-1, Wayne's sidefoot effort handed England a 2-1 lead, Pazzini levelled within a minute, Matt Derbyshire made it 3-2 only for Pazzini to complete his hat-trick for a 3-3 draw.

Tom came on with 11 minutes remaining and was straight into his passing range in front of the 55,700 crowd. He had one late shooting chance but his left-foot effort from the edge of the box weas charged down. Ben Alnwick, our third player in the squad, remained an unused substitute.
