Four straight defeats with no goals scored has left the team requiring a change of luck ahead of the trip to Fulham on Sunday.
Chances have been created and Gus was denied goals against Charlton by both goalkeeper Dean Kiely's heroics and a clearance off the line onto the underside of the crossbar on Sunday.
It is no wonder that Gus feels a change of fortune is required as he explains that the team are finding it difficult to win.
"We're disappointed because we know it doesn't matter how you play, how many chances you create - at moment we are finding it difficult to score and look like we concede easy goals," pondered Gus. "It's difficult to win."
Gus continues that nervous performances are no good at this stage of the campaign.
"There is only one way to get out of it. We must keep playing for each other and try to be stronger in the two boxes. It must come, being nervous is no good for this time of the season.
"We need the kind of game where maybe you don't play well and maybe score a lucky goal and win. After that we can change."
Gus Poyet says the team maybe need to score a 'lucky goal' in order to get back on track after recent disappointments.
