Clive Allen was delighted with Nicky Eyre after the young goalkeeper was called in as a late replacement for Marton Fulop in our reserve draw at Palace on Tuesday night.
Marton was withdrawn as a precaution with a slight back problem but Nicky responded with a fine display of good handling and a number of decent saves.
Coach Clive said: "There was nothing serious there for Marton but it was a case of taking no risks as he's number two to Paul Robinson at the moment.
"Nicky showed that he has the right attitude, concentration and all the things required when called upon late.
"He was very focused and handled the ball particularly well.
"It's been frustrating for him, it's been a test of character and he's had to wait for his opportunities.
"He's had to be patient but when he's played for the reserves he's acquitted himself exceptionally well. I was very pleased with him."
