A barren run of results for our youngsters ended in spectacular fashion at the Training Centre on Monday, as we notched a 7-4 victory over the Foxes in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.
Kazaiah Sterling, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kenny McEvoy (2), Shayon Harrison (2) and Filip Lesniak were all on target for us as we were twice pegged back having taken a two-goal lead before securing the victory with a flurry of goals in the second period.
After putting in a full shift in central midfield, Anton picked out a few things for the lads to improve on but spoke about how the players were delighted to return to winning ways.
“It’s great when you’re scoring but when you’re conceding it’s a bit of a downer,” he said.
“I think we made it hard for ourselves in the first half as for the first 40 minutes we dominated, scored two goals and played with great style but, perhaps through a lack of concentration, Leicester scored, which gave them a bit of momentum going into the second half.
“Unfortunately they got back level after half-time so from there we just had to push on again. We went and imposed ourselves on the game but their chances mainly came through our errors, which I’m sure we can work on.
“It was great to get the win, though, because we’d lost a few on the spin before that. The game was there for us to win and coming off the pitch with the three points was a great feeling, so hopefully now we can continue with some momentum.”
