Vote for England's greatest

Posted on 20 November 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Is England's greatest player over the last 50 years a Lane legend? Don't miss your chance to vote on the FA's website.

UEFA are celebrating their 50th Jubilee next year and, as part of the celebrations, they are asking all 52 Member Associations to nominate one of its own footballers as its single most outstanding player of the past 50 years.

The player chosen must have played for the national team between 1954 and the present day.

The 52 players chosen will be 'presented' at UEFA's headquarters in Switzerland.

As a result, the FA are asking fans to vote for who you think is England's greatest player of the last 50 years.

Jimmy Greaves, Paul Gascoigne and Glenn Hoddle are just some of the names who spring to mind and what about the likes of Martin Peters, Martin Chivers or Gary Lineker - all legends at the Lane.

The England legend that gets the most overall votes will be officially recognised as England's greatest of the last 50 years.
