The Dutch goalkeeper pulled off a handful of impressive stops to keep a clean sheet against Championship side Reading in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday, having played a part in a similar shutout against Southend United the previous weekend.
Young centre-half Kevin, in his first fortnight at the Club following his summer move from German side 1. FC Köln, lined up in our back four during the first half of the 1-0 win against the Royals.
And, clearly impressed by what he’s seen of the former Swansea City stopper so far, the 22-year-old defender said Michel’s early form has come as a real boost to everyone in the squad.
“Over the whole 90 minutes it was a very good match from Michel against Reading and he showed that he’s a very good goalkeeper,” said Kevin.
“Of course, we as defenders try to stop everything but it’s not always possible over the 90 minutes to defend it all and, when we need him, he’s always there.
“I think his performance was very good at the weekend, he’s a very good keeper and he shows that in training every day.”
