Wanyama Exclusive! Victor on new campaign

New arrival Victor Wanyama is already plotting our assault on the Premier League in 2016-17 – and he’s relishing the prospect of getting the new season underway against a club now led by his former boss.

The tough-tackling central midfielder completed his transfer from Southampton this week and promptly cast his eyes over our fixture list for the coming campaign.

Having enjoyed three solid seasons at St Mary’s, the Kenyan international is fully accustomed to life in the top flight and understandably cannot wait to kick-off in our colours in August.

But with our opening-day fixture taking place at Goodison Park against an Everton side now managed by former Saints chief Ronald Koeman, the new recruit has even more reason to look forward to this year’s curtain-raiser.

“I know Everton’s new manager very well,” confirmed Victor, who also played under Mauricio Pochettino during his first season on the south coast in 2013-14.

“He’s a very good manager and I think it’s going to be an interesting game for us because Everton are a good team.

“It will be a tough game but I think the players here at Spurs are really down to earth.

“Football is about working hard and if we believe in ourselves and work hard together then we can achieve a lot of things.”
