We’ve had a total of 13 players on senior international duty over the last two weeks, with plenty of talking points coming out of the England camp in particular.
Harry Kane and Ryan Mason marked their Three Lions debuts, with Harry and Andros Townsend on target for Roy Hodgson’s men in their matches against Lithuania and Italy respectively. Kyle Walker also marked his return to the England team in the latter game.
Elsewhere, our Belgian contingent of Jan Vertonghen, Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele helped their nation register back-to-back wins in Euro 2016 qualifying, with defenders Ben Davies and Vlad Chiriches also enjoying victories with Wales and Romania.
Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, celebrated winning his 50th cap for Denmark by captaining his country to victory over the USA in a friendly.
It’s all added up to a fruitful period for our players, with Head Coach Mauricio glad to see everyone back at the Training Centre and in a positive frame of mind ahead of our trip to Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s been a very good week for Tottenham,” he said on Thursday after training.
“The English players and others with their international teams have put in good performances. They are all fit and at a very good level, too.
“It’s also been a time to train very hard with the players that remained here with us and now it’s back to normal.
“It’s always difficult after the international break but today all the players are with us and we’re starting to prepare for the trip to Burnley.
“We need to make it a good performance and win the game.”
