That versatility helped him make 31 starts and he was at least on the bench for all-but one of our 49 games.
He explained: "You can't just be ready for one position all season otherwise you might not get many games.
"I played only about five games in central midfield last season, the rest were out on the right and I enjoyed it.
"I love going one-on-one against players and that's what the manager wants me to do."
His dazzling wing play have made him a firm favourite with the fans and he felt his performances helped make him feel more part of the team.
"The feel more part of the team when you are putting in performances that help the team to win, score a few goals, that helps you feel part of it," he added.
European qualification is on the agenda again next season and Simon concluded: "We're capable of making Europe.
"I thought we were capable last season but we've all learned and we're all ready for it next season now."
