We were quickly into our stride on the Premier League’s opening day and carved out our best chance in the fourth minute when Harry Kane chipped a clever pass into Christian who lobbed Sergio Romero, only for the ball to land on the roof of the net.
Christian and Romero would lock horns again later as the Dane twice forced the United goalkeeper into action as we pushed for an equaliser in the final five minutes.
It wasn’t to be though and although happy with the performance, Mauricio Pochettino and the squad headed home feeling the disappointment of defeat.
“We’re playing for points and we didn’t get any today, unlucky in my opinion, but I think with the way we played especially the way we started gives us some positive things to take away with us,” reflected Christian.
“We created chances, especially in the first 20 minutes and if we play like that every game we’ll win a lot of matches.”
Christian took us into his thought process on his early chance. “Once I got the ball I knew there was only one way and that was to lift it, unfortunately I gave it a bit too much power and it went a bit high.
“I’m glad I got into that position and I would have loved to scored but it’s something that we can build on, coming here and creating chances.”
