Under-21 round-up

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Stephen Kelly missed out through injury as his Republic of Ireland under-21 teammates were defeated 3-1 by Israel in European Championship qualifying.

It now looks unlikely the Republic will make it to the final stages of the competition, having secured three points from a possible 12. "I think we have a real battle to qualify for the European Championships now," said coach Don Givens. "It looks very difficult."

On loan Calum Davenport played the whole game for England under-21s in their qualifier against Germany at Hull City. England looked set for victory after scoring two goals in two minutes - from Darren Bent and Dean Ashton - in response to Germany's opener through Stefan Kiessling.

Substitute Roberto Hilbert struck an 88th minute equaliser to keep England and Germany level on points and neck-and-neck at the top of Group Six. Soon to be Spurs player Tom Huddlestone also played a full 90 minutes, while Dean Marney did not feature.

David Limbersky and Emil Hallfredsson were also on international duty, with the Czech Republic beating Finland 3-0 and Iceland losing 2-1 in Croatia.
