Under-21 round-up

Posted on 9 February 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Marney made quite an impact off the bench as he won his first England Under-21 cap against Holland last night.

The midfielder made his entrance as substitute for Wayne Routledge after 75 minutes of the 2-1 friendly defeat.

Deano managed to get himself booked within seconds and then created space for himself before blazing a rare chance wide as the Dutch enjoyed the better of it at Derby's Pride Park.

Tom Huddlestone - who will join us from Derby in the summer - was the pick of the bunch for England, starting in central midfield before finishing the game as centre-back.

It wasn't the best of nights for our Under-21 internationals. Stephen Kelly and Mark Yeates both started as the Republic of Ireland lost 2-0 against Portugal in Rio Maior while Marton Fulop's Hungary were held 3-3 by Cyprus.

The focus will switch to the seniors tonight with Paul Robinson, Jermain Defoe (England), Robbie Keane, Andy Reid (Ireland), Simon Davies (Wales), Erik Edman (Sweden), Thimothee Atouba (Cameroon), Fredi Kanoute (Mali) and Noureddine Naybet (Morocco) all in action.
