Our Under-18s travel to Port Vale in the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round tomorrow night on the back of 12 games unbeaten, but coach Alex Inglethorpe has warned against any complacency.Alex knows the form book can often go out of the window in the Cup, and he also remembers being eliminated from last season’s competition by lower league opposition in the form of Chester City.

But Alex is confident his team have learned from this experience and will show all the necessary maturity to get the job done at Vale Park.

He said: “We’ve been playing some good football and we’re looking forward to the game, but as with any cup competition, we’ve got to expect the unexpected. Our form will give us confidence but it might not count for much on the night.

“Port Vale knocked out Bolton at the Reebok in the previous round and they have a first-team player in their squad, and therefore plenty of experience.

“I’d like to think we would have learnt from Chester last season, the lads have had longer together now and have overcome a lot of obstacles as a team.”
