FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Spurs Under-18s 0, Watford 1
Pat Holland took some positives in fielding three schoolboys as our Under-18s succumbed to a first defeat in six league games against Watford on Saturday.
Radwan Hamed and Jamie Davis were joined by substitute Alex Smith is the narrow 1-0 defeat.
Coach Pat reflected: "When we played them last time it was a real battle and I was quite worried because we had the game in the week at Liverpool which had gone to extra time and we were decimated with injuries.
"We ended up with three schoolboys on and it was a tough one for them, Watford are strong, still in the FA Youth Cup as well and a useful outfit so that would have been great experience for them.
"Watford put out a strong side but it was a poor first half - they never performed and neither did we.
"It was always a question of who could raise their game but unfortunately they got the first goal and that gave them a lift.
"We lost possession in their half, it was transferred quickly to the wing, a decent cross, we were a little sleepy in the box and it was a far post header. That was after about 60 minutes.
"Just as I was about to change it around Mark Wright had to come off, so anything further up the park in terms of juggling around the forwards I couldn't do.
"We still had a couple of opportunities earlier on but after the goal it looked more a case of damage limitation. They deserved it, without doubt."
