Without a win in six Barclays Under-21 Premier League matches, we take on the Saints at St Mary’s looking to turn our fortunes in the competition around.
Under-21s Coach Ugo Ehiogu wants all those who take to the pitch to make an impact in what is always a tough test on the south coast.
“We expect a very competitive game,” he confirmed. “We’ve conceded a lot of goals lately but we’ve done a lot of work on the training pitch and hopefully the boys have taken what we’ve spoken about on board because that needs changing.
“Regardless of who we’re playing, we’re once again looking at our players and asking are they competitive, are they exhibiting one-v-one domination and are they helping the team to improve?
“To be fair we’re among the top-scoring sides in the league so we have been creating chances but we need to be a lot more ruthless than we have been. We have to manage the ebbs and flows of a game better and make footballing decisions taking into account the momentum swings.
“With that in mind, I’ve no doubt that we will compete and create chances and I’ve no doubt that we will defend set-pieces better. If we put that all together I’ll be quite happy.”
We’ll have live updates from St Mary’s on Twitter @SpursOfficial tonight. Kick-off is at 7pm.
