The midfielder stepped off the bench to rifle home a stunning left-footed volley following Anthony Georgiou’s cushioned ball in from the left at the King Power Stadium.
The strike, two minutes into stoppage time, rounded off an encouraging 3-0 win over the Foxes after an earlier brace from Shayon Harrison.
It was Cy’s first goal in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League and, while delighted to get off the mark at this level, the 18-year-old was pleased with the response of the team to last week’s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Norwich City.
“It just dropped to me on the edge of the box,” said Cy as he reflected on his goal. “It fell perfectly to me and I’ve just moved onto it. I saw it coming towards me in slow motion! It’s good to get back on the scoresheet because my finishing is something I’ve been working on so I’m glad the training has paid off and I’ve got a goal.
“In general, though, I thought it was a great performance and we bounced back well from a disappointing week last week. We had to come out with a good performance tonight and we did – we weren’t just good on the ball, but we were good off the ball as well.
“We passed it well and we made runs for each other, which made the game complete for us.”
