Kieran McKenna praised our Under-18s for their attacking endeavours in Saturday’s incredible 7-3 win over Wolves.

Six different players got themselves on the scoresheet for us, Ryan Loft leading the charge with a brace, while others were influential in our impressive build-up play in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League contest at the Training Centre.

Reflecting on the performance, Under-18s Coach Kieran picked out a handful of players for praise including holding midfielder George Marsh, who captained the side, and Under-16s regular Tashan Oakley-Boothe, who grabbed two assists and a goal on his first start at the higher level.

“I was pleased for Tashan – we’ve got high expectations of him and he set himself a good standard today, but he’s got to kick on from here,” said Kieran.

“I also thought George Marsh, within a very good team performance, did a lot of good work and that gave some of the more attacking players the license to play and score as many goals as they did. He really knitted the team together well on and off the ball and he took on the captaincy well too. He’s a good character in the group so I’m pleased for him.

“In general, it was obviously good to see the boys get a large amount of goals on the board and there were some really good aspects of our attacking play right from the off.

“I thought we had good control of the possession, a lot of forward runs, a lot of movement, we played the ball into good areas and had good quality most of the time in our end product so it’s pleasing to score seven goals and we had chances to get more as well.”

The lads now head off to Germany for a youth tournament in Dusseldorf next weekend.
