The central defender has captained the team in the last few games of the season and wore the armband again as we came through a thrilling semi-final against Everton at the Lane on Monday night.
We led twice through Alex Pritchard and Jon Obika but Everton kept coming back until the final minute, when striker Jon dived in to head home Cristian Ceballos' cross for the winner at 3-2.
The victory takes us into the final, where we’ll play either Manchester United or Liverpool. United host their semi-final tonight and we’re waiting for a confirmed date for the final, which will be an away match.
Either way, Grant is delighted to be there after the team won both National Group Two in the competition’s first phase, then the Elite Group in phase two.
"I’m delighted and I think we deserve it, we’ve been fantastic all season," said Grant, whose 18 starts for the Under-21s is topped only by Cristian Ceballos' 20.
"We started well against Everton and their goal just before half-time was a real blow as we were comfortable in that first half and had a few chances.
"We got ourselves in front, conceded, then got ourselves in front again only to concede again! It was a bit of a yo-yo match for everyone.
"When Cristian's cross came in at the end I just thought 'that's the perfect cross, someone get a touch on it'. Thankfully Jon Obika was there and we scored the winner.
"We’re through to the final and I just hope we win now because I think we deserve it after the season we’ve had."
