Reto Ziegler is full of confidence going into the European U21 Championship qualifying shoot-out between Switzerland and England on Wednesday night.

The defender goes head-to-head with Spurs team-mate Tom Huddlestone in the clash in Lucerne. Wayne Routledge, now on loan at Fulham, is also likely to be involved.

The Swiss hold the upper hand having beaten Moldova in their opening fixture of the three-team group on Friday. England, meanwhile, were held to a surprise home draw by the Moldovans a fortnight ago.

That means the Swiss can win or draw to make it through to the play-offs for next summers finals but England must win to top the group and progress.

Reto said: "We will have one of the best Under-21 teams weve had because everyone is coming back from the senior team - Djourou, Barnetta, Dzemali and a few others who play in Italy and Germany. They have a lot of experience and we know each other well as a squad. We are confident.

"Tom is important for England, he can dictate the game. We know England have a good team, but they also make mistakes and well work to exploit that. We are confident because we are at home, we have a great squad and now we have to show it on the pitch."

Midfielder Tom is also confident that England can put the Moldovan draw to rights in Switzerland.

"That result was very disappointing but we feel within the squad that we have enough quality to beat anyone on our day," he said.

"It was a shock. Moldova are a so-called smaller country and I dont feel we underestimated them one bit, but they were better than we expected.

"Switzerland will provide a different threat. A lot of their World Cup squad can still play for the Under-21s and they have a great reputation. There is a lot of pressure. Ive played for England since Under-16s and every team is gunning for you."
