Our quartet of players on England Under-21 duty are all looking to grab the chance to impress in friendlies this week ahead of this summer's European Championship Finals.

Tom Carroll, Danny Rose, Adam Smith and Andros Townsend are in the Under-21 squad for friendlies against Romania at Wycombe tonight (Thursday, March 21) and Austria at Brighton on Monday.

Steven Caulker was also in the squad before being promoted to the seniors following Rio Ferdinand's withdrawal.

The target for all five - the finals in Israel between June 5-18.

"The main thing is to try and get into the squad for the summer," said Andros, in flying form on loan at QPR.

"We've two friendlies where we can try to impress Stuart Pearce, hopefully he’ll watch a few matches at QPR as well and like what he sees.

"It’s a massive tournament, it must be the third biggest tournament internationally. You only have to look at the players who have played in it recently to show the quality of the tournament."

"I’d love to be in the squad for the summer," added Adam, who is targeting a Wembley semi-final with his loan club Millwall.

"It’s a massive tournament with some fantastic teams in there and a chance for everyone to show what they can do in that tournament environment.

"We’ve a couple of good friendlies now that I’m looking forward to and it’s great to have the Spurs lads in there. It just shows how many good youngsters we’ve got, not many clubs have five players named in the Under-21s. It’s something to be proud of."

Tom, who caught the eye in a cameo in Sunday's unfortunate loss against Fulham at the Lane, is after a first cap at Under-21 level.

"It's a great experience for me and I’m looking to get my first Under-21 cap under my belt which will hopefully come in the next week or so," said the midfielder.

"That would be massive, a proud moment for me. I won caps at Under-19 level but this is the next step up and it would be great to play. I’ve got try and impress Stuart Pearce, try to catch his eye and see what happens from there."
